Our Story

The A-Abel name has been around since 1937. Since 1997, we’ve purchased several independent service and trade businesses that compliment each other well to provide homeowners with the services they need at competitive prices.

We’re working to make A-Abel the name Dayton and Cincinnati area homeowners choose when problems with their homes arise.

Meet The Owners

Chuck Norman

Graduate of Miami University, Oxford Ohio. Lifelong resident of the Miami Valley. Chuck performed accounting services with Alexander-Grant CPA’s for over 10 years before leaving full-time accounting to take over the administrative & financial management for the A-Abel Family of Companies in 1992. Under Chuck’s direction, the Family of Companies has grown into an integrated group of independent service businesses.

Jim Cain

After running his own Heating & Air Conditioning business for several years, Jim brought Cain Heating & Air into the A-Abel Family of Companies in 1994. The Cain company was a great fit – Jim’s hard work and experience made for a quick growth in the service business. Jim has grown the Heating & Air business to one of the largest in the Dayton market, and is an important part of the A-Abel Family of Companies.

Jacob Blommel

Jacob is a graduate of Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio and Apostolic College of Biblical Studies in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During his time at Sinclair he was an electrical instructor that taught the state of Ohio apprenticeship program. He enjoyed this so much he decided to focus on becoming a Master Electrician. Jacob is also a lifelong resident of Dayton and joined A-Abel Family of Companies in 2008 to start the electrical company. A-Abel Electric has grown tremendously under Jacob’s leadership due to his emphasis on treating people the way you would want to be treated (The Golden Rule). In his spare time, Jacob enjoys working with inner city youth to show them a brighter future and scuba diving & snorkeling with his wife and three children.

Nick Hirth

Nick was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio where he completed a four year bachelor’s degree before moving to Springboro, Ohio. During his senior year he apprenticed at Gearheart as a plumber and left after eight years with his journeyman license. Since joining A-Abel Plumbing in 2006, he has acquired multiple certifications and continues to manage a team of plumbers using his twenty five (plus) years of experience in the trade. His latest accomplishment was obtaining the State of Ohio Masters Plumbing & Contractors License! With his extensive education, expertise and guidance, he has doubled the plumbing division. His skillfully trained team ensures customers receive prompt and quality service each and every visit.

Meet Our Third Generation

Brandon Bradley

Brandon is a Devry University graduate with a BA in Network Communications & Management. He worked many years in the IT and Project Management field for several Fortune 50 companies in Ohio before joining the family business in 2019. He enjoys helping our staff and technicians solve complex problems and implementing solutions to help make their jobs more efficient. One of his favorite things about working in the family company is the opportunity to build valuable relationships with all our employees.

Elizabeth Bradley

Elizabeth is a graduate of Miami University with a BA in Business Marketing and The Ohio State University with a MBA in Labor and Human Resources. She spent many years gaining valuable experience in the HR field at Lane Bryant, Abercrombie and Cardinal Health before moving back to Dayton to join the family business. Elizabeth enjoys working alongside her accounting team and coming up with new solutions on how to more efficiently operate the business.

Vanessa Hepp

Vanessa graduated from Montana State University with a BS in Earth Sciences. She spent ten years in Pittsburgh, PA working for City Parks and running three kayak concessions. In 2018 she moved back to Dayton and started working as the Community Relations & Marketing Manager at A-Abel Family of Companies. She loves working for the family business and is looking forward to helping to continue to grow the companies through digital & print media, community involvement and lots of hard work.
