Easy Home Maintenance: 5 Clever Hacks That Actually Work!

Easy home maintenance isn’t the most fun thing in the world, but it can be made easier so you can get back to doing the things that actually are fun. Here are a few tips to make your home maintenance to-do list just a little bit better:

Spray Your Lawn Mower Blades To Keep Grass From Sticking To Them

Mowing the lawn is a homeowner must-do and it can be made more difficult when you have to stop every so often to clean your mower blades because of a build up of clippings. Spray a bit of cooking spray underneath your mower’s undercarriage and blades to help keep grass from sticking.

Keep A Tennis Ball In Your Pool

Sunscreen, moisturizers, and body oil can create a greasy film on pool water. Toss a clean tennis ball into your pool to help solve this issue. The fuzzy surface of the ball will soak up the oils.

Use painters tape when caulking to make for easy clean up and neat lines

Applying caulk in a perfectly straight line can be a near-impossible thing to do. Not so much if you use painter’s tape! Clean the area you plan on caulking with soap and water and let dry. Add painter’s tape above and below the line you plan on caulking. Carefully apply the caulk and then slowly pull up the tape while the caulk is still wet to get crisp, straight lines without the hassle.

Drill away a dirty bathtub

Sometimes it takes a lot of elbow grease to get your tub looking nice and clean. But it doesn’t have to. Using a cordless drill and foam ball polishing attachment (which can be found in most automotive sections), you can get the job done with less labor. These types of attachments are meant to be used on the delicate paint of cars so they’re perfect for getting grime off of your bathtub without fear of scratching the porcelain.

Use Nail Polish To Fix A Window Crack

Have you ever discovered a small hole or chip in your glass window? Don’t replace your window just yet. Repair it with a clear nail polish – apply a thin coat of polish into the hole/crack. Wait to dry. Repeat until the hole/crack is full and flush with the rest of the glass.
